[Late-June 2025] Last week I coincidentally spent a very emotional day visiting Hiroshima as the situation between Iran and Israel unfolded.
It offered a powerful contrast to the present-day turmoil in the Middle East.
The haunting echoes of what happened there in 1945 remind us that the consequences of decisive action in war are profound, polarizing, and, at times, history-shaping.
As a veteran, I know the burden of making tough calls (and following them!) and the intense fear of combat. But I do know that when lives are on the line, hesitation can be fatal – and action without foresight and courage without compassion leads to ruin.
What struck me most (and made me proud) about recent operations in Iran was the coordinated execution: B-2 bombers, intelligence teams, allied forces—all working in unity.
It wasn’t a solo act. It was a mission rooted in trust, precision, and partnership. Proof that the greatest missions are never flown alone!
But it’s way more than that.
Regardless of your political views, or what you think of the U.S., Israel, or President Trump – we must understand that leadership isn’t just about making bold (and risky) decisions—it’s about owning them, learning from them, and ultimately, building something better from their aftermath.
Think about it. Japan, once a bitter enemy, is now one of America’s most trusted allies. I guarantee in 1945, most never thought that could be a reality!
But that evolution didn’t happen overnight—it took time, tough diplomacy, and the courage to take some risks and rebuild trust.
The hope is that one day, even the fiercest of adversaries can find peace.
Let’s all pray for the same outcome with Iran, and that the vision for a better future will become a reality.
