You never know what someone’s battling behind the scenes—what fears they’re facing, what doubts are eating at them, what uncertainties they’re dealing with.
As a fighter pilot, I didn’t just rely on my wingmen for tactical support.
I relied on them for emotional fuel… especially when I was feeling doubtful.
A thumbs-up before takeoff.
A word of encouragement after a tough mission or one where I messed up.
A reminder that I mattered and was an important part of the team.
That’s what great wingmen do. That’s what great humans do.
They don’t just check your six, they lift your spirit.
They give hope and courage. They show a little kindness.
They remind you that you belong in the cockpit—even when the turbulence of life says otherwise.
Seriously — look at what’s going on in the world today… the negativity and divisiveness. It’s pretty sad. We don’t need more people dragging us down.
So — don’t be a dragger. Be a leader who lifts others up.
Be kind of person who makes others feel stronger just by being around you. Remind them that they’re worthy.
We don’t need more bosses, critics, or assholes. We need more wingmen.
