Be the type of American worth fighting for

As we approach Veterans Day, many of you may be wondering how you can express your sincere gratitude for those who fought (and continue to fight) for the freedoms that our flag represents. After all, if you’ve never worn a military uniform or tasted the sting of battle, it can be difficult to express thanks to […]

Five Top-Gun Tactics to Conquer Fear, Overcome Adversity and Achieve Breakthroughs

If there’s one thing I faced every time I strapped into an F-16 in combat – it’s fear.   Fear of getting shot down…becoming a prisoner of war…letting down my team.   They were all obstacles and adversities.   But the biggest obstacles weren’t the missiles launched on my aircraft. They were the missiles in […]

Hope, Courage and Inspiration from a Stranger

Every day we have a chance to inspire and to be inspired – to find greater meaning in the grind of our daily lives. To find the courage and hope to press on and break through our fears and doubts that may be holding us back from taking our life to the next level. Even when we’re in the dungeon of despair.

Mission Briefing – The Key to Effective Communication

Mission Briefing

Hard Work is Smart Work

I was recently working out in a hotel gym and had a great conversation with an attendee from a conference I spoke at.  As he departed he said, “don’t work too hard.”  I laughed and said, “Don’t worry, I won’t!”   I then proceeded to suffer through a super set of lunges and wall squats […]

Holiday Message – Tighten Down the Rivets

Category: WINGTIPS

As we experience this holiday season, I wanted to send you a little reminder to spend some time in the hangar these next few weeks. We all need maintenance on our airframe, especially with the pressures and challenges of life.   Take some time to review the areas in your personal and professional life that perhaps you may […]

Loyalty, Courage and Service

“Don’t’ worry, we’ll be back for you.”   That’s what U.S. Navy pilot Thomas Hudner told his wingman Ensign Jesse Brown after he got shot down in North Korea.   Hudner crash-landed his Corsair to save his friend, but wasn’t able to pull him from the burning wreckage. Now 65 years later, with a Medal […]

How to Become a Champion of Change

If you want to lead at work, keep your eyes (and ears) scanning for workplace “litter” (corrupt employees, gossip, wasted resources, unreliable partners, etc.) Show others where the litter is and get them on your cleaning crew. Come up with a viable plan. Share the litter and solution with your leadership (if able.)
Grab a garbage bag and get to work!
